"Leading sustainable growth and change"

The 6 th World Chambers Congress organized by ICC's World Chambers Federation, and hosted by the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, in Kuala Lumpur brought together some 1,000 chamber of commerce executives and business leaders from 105 countries.

The focus was leading sustainable growth and change and t he Congress highlighted global trends in demographics, migration and industrialization that are putting pressure on vital resources such as food, water, and energy. In particular, the current global economic crisis and the impacts of climate change were identified as two major challenges that transcend national borders and require concerted international cooperation.

Leaders of the global chambers of commerce community issued a statement at the end of the Congress stressing the critical role chambers and companies have to play together with governments in order to meet these challenges.
